AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that breaks usual forecasts, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the official release, "A strange encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of banned practices and monstrous transformations echo through the obscurity." The plot features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret sect.
The questline concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Transformations
The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Features
Players who accomplish the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana together with several artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's latest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally included a quest that clearly nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
